• ▸ Fan- to rosette-shaped fruit bodies growing in overlapping clusters, brick-brown and matted-fibrous
• ▸ Upper surface coarse with small tubercles, whitish fringe towards the margin
• ▸ No gills; fertile lower side smooth to wrinkled, grey-brown
• ▸ Stout, felty stem, often partially buried in the litter
